Great Plains of Ellinwood, Inc.(d/b/a Ellinwood District Hospital) is leased and managed by Great Plains Health Alliance. Ellinwood District Hospital is a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital in the Central Kansas community of Ellinwood, in Barton County. Ellinwood’s population in 2005 was 2119, with the county population set at 28,205. The hospital opened in 1952 and serves inpatients and outpatients in surrounding areas, with a service base of 40,000 citizens. There are 60 employees of Ellinwood District Hospital and the adjacent Ellinwood Hospital Clinic, a family practice rural health clinic.

Ellinwood District Hospital provides inpatient acute care, skilled swing bed, and intermediate swing bed care. The facility offers numerous outpatient services including 24-hour Emergency Room, full service Laboratory, Radiology, Physical and Occupational Therapy, CT scan, endoscopy procedures; with on-site sonography and mammography.
