Memorial Health System provides quality care through seven affiliates. Those affiliates are Memorial Hospital, Village Manor, Home Health and Hospice of Dickinson County, Impact Sports & Fitness, Frontier Estates, and Heartland LASIK Center.
MEMORIAL HOSPITAL Memorial Hospital is a modern and well-equipped primary health care institution with a high degree of sophistication in diagnostic equipment, technology and personnel that are unusual for most hospitals of similar size and type in the state.
Memorial Hospital prides itself on the quality patient care it provides in both outpatient services and inpatient services.
The excellent medical staff combined with a dedicated and skilled hospital staff assures delivery of high quality health care in a compassionate, yet individualized manner.
Memorial Hospital’s location on NE 10th Street provides easy access with ample parking.
The Emergency Entrance is located on the west side of the building on Brown Street.
HOSPITAL SERVICES: 24-HOUR EMERGENCY CARE Family practitioners on the medical staff provide on-call service to Memorial’s Emergency Department. Registered nurses who have advanced training in life support and trauma care give round-the-clock emergency nursing care.
THE STORK STATION The family-centered childbirth unit offers many amenities including epidural services, childbirth education classes, candlelight dinner, and picture birth announcement in the newspaper, baby’s first picture, car seat program, and the Books for Babies program.
SKILLED NURSING SWING-BED PROGRAM Memorial offers skilled nursing care through a Swing Bed Program to provide transitional care for patients who may require a range of non-acute services from skilled to intermediate care.
LABORATORY The hospital supports a modern diagnostic lab. State-of-the-art equipment enables a large number of automated tests to be run with a short response time.
RADIOLOGY A full range of diagnostic radiological services including x-ray, mammography, CT scan, MRI, ultrasound, non-invasive ultrasound, nuclear medicine, bone density, and fluoroscopy.
REHABILITATION SERVICES Physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy are provided through Memorial Hospital’s rehabilitation service. Evaluations and appropriate treatment programs are designed to restore patients to their highest level of functioning.
RESPIRATORY CARE Cardiopulmonary services include diagnostic testing, therapeutic procedures and patient and family education.
ANCILLARY FACILITIES AND SERVICES Memorial Health System provides complete healthcare through the following ancillary services:
ROSE Unit This geriatric behavioral health unit is located on the third floor of Memorial Hospital. It is renowned throughout the area for providing quality care in servicing the unique needs of the elderly population. Physicians refer patients; care facilities, mental health center, psychologists, agencies serving the elderly, or the individual’s family.
Patients arriving for inpatient or outpatient services will first stop at the patient registration desk. Patients needing to pre-register for outpatient services can do so easily by calling 785-263-6660.
OUTPATIENT CLINICS Memorial Hospital provides outpatient clinics offering specialized physician services on a regular basis. Appointments are scheduled through the local family physician.
Memorial Hospital offers the following specialty outreach clinics: Audiology Orthopedics Otolaryngology Neurology Podiatry Oncology Urology Ophthalmology VA Clinics
Visiting Hours: 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 - 8:30 p.m.
Visits other than during these normal visiting hours need to be approved by a nurse at the nurse’s station.
Children ages seven through twelve years are allowed with adult supervision. Children six and under are permitted in the family-centered childbirth unit if they are members of the immediate family of the new mother and baby. Younger children are also allowed to visit a terminally ill patient.
WELLNESS PROGRAMS Many departments of the hospital offer wellness programs. Some of the groups that meet are: Bereavement Diabetes Healthwise 55 Real Solutions
VOLUNTEER SERVICES Volunteers serve the hospital, patients, and community in many areas. The volunteer programs available are Memorial Hospital Volunteer Corps; Youth Volunteers; Chaplaincy Program; The Red Cross Gray Ladies, Hospice Volunteers, and Village Manor Volunteers.
VILLAGE MANOR This senior care facility is located at 705 N. Brady. It operates as a 72-bed facility.
HOME HEALTH AND HOSPICE OF DICKINSON COUNTY The physician and a team of professionals work together to develop a care program to meet patient needs in the comfort of the home environment. Services include: skilled nursing, rehabilitation therapy, aide services, Lifeline emergency response system, dietary consultation, social services, and Hospice.
IMPACT SPORTS & FITNESS A complete, modern, family fitness facility is located at 418 N. Broadway. It offers cardiovascular equipment, nautilus and free weights, selectorized equipment, fitness classes, walking track, and tanning.
FRONTIER ESTATES Frontier Estates is a 60-unit independent-living apartment facility for those over age 62 or with disabilities. It is located three blocks from the heart of downtown within walking distance of shopping, restaurants, churches, and many downtown Abilene business establishments. Frontier Estates is a Housing and Urban Development Project managed by Memorial Health System.
HEARTLAND LASIK CENTER Heartland LASIK Center combines the knowledge of a skillful doctor with the most advanced technology to offer this once thought of big-city procedure close to home. Patients feel comfortable as the doctor and his friendly staff help you understand how the benefits of laser vision correction can improve your vision and lifestyle. This facility is located in Abilene to easily serve mid-Kansas.
